Kerby Family Pictures

Over the Christmas holiday Teryn, garret me and our families were all together at our parents house and decided we needed to take a family picture since we had river, mogley and prego Teryn to add to the bunch. Cheri Carr took the pictures for us at a park up in Boise and I think they turned out pretty darn cute. By the end of the session none of us could feel our fingers or toes but I guess you could say it was worth it since they turned out good! I loved having all of the family together and being able to catch up with everyone. Love you guys! (Loads more pictures on my fb page!) :)

By the way we have rivers MRI scheduled for next Friday the 25th! Wish us luck! :)

7 months!

This beautiful little girl hit the 7 month mark on the 13th! At her 6 month appointment she was 16 pounds 2 ounces and 25 3/4 inches long, when we went to the doctor yesterday they weighed her again and she was 17 pounds and 28 inches long! She is growing like a weed, it is definitely bittersweet for this momma because part of me wants her to stay this cute little baby forever while the other half of me gets more excited about the milestones she hits than she does. I'm sure if your friends with me on fb or Instagram you can see she is one strong little woman, she loves to stand, I honestly think she will skip crawling and just move straight to walking because she doesn't enjoy sitting and being put on her hands and knees. She has been rolling around all over the place since she was 3 months old and started sitting up around 5 1/2 months. She looooves to eat and has been nursing along with eating baby food. We think she may become a little singer as she sings her little heart out anytime she hears music, and would love to join the church choir, she loves when they sing at church. she is a little ball of energy and the best baby we could ever ask for, happy all the time (unless tired or hungry) we are so grateful for her in our lives.
Now I have to admit that I have never been so happy in my life as I am being a mom to river but I also have never been so stressed in my life, how can something make you want to burst with happiness and cry or lose sleep with the amount of stress and worry she causes? Not very many people know what has happened with her so I guess I will start from the beginning. When river was born her eyes drifted really far apart in an outward direction I was told that it would correct itself by 3 months, well three months came and went and still there was this drifting that didn't seem to get better so we went to a children's ophthalmologist and they said that she had to have surgery and that it may be a neurological problem. I went home bawling and feeling so hopeless, they also told us to start patching her eyes to try to strengthen them a bit. After MANY prayers and priesthood blessing and patching everyday her eyes had pretty much corrected themselves (totally unheard of when the eyes drift outward) I was so happy and excited to go back to the eye doctor at 6 months and show her the progress. The doctor was shocked at the progress and started her eye exam, just when I thought all was fine we found what is called a rotary nystagmus... This is where her eyes shake and since it wasn't present at birth it is most likely caused by something neurologically meaning she could have a tumor, developing ms or other scary disorders. Now I'm not saying that she for sure has any of these things but these are the most common reasons for nystagmus to appear in people. We had an appointment with a children's neurologist yesterday and she advised us to do an MRI so we will hopefully be doing that next week and are praying that there won't be anything wrong with our beautiful baby girl. I'm so grateful for the power of prayer and blessings, I will let everyone know how it goes.

Lately~

Cody and I have been together for over five years now and we celebrated our four year wedding anniversary on July 10th It is insane how the older I get the faster the years seem to come and go! I love Cody more now then I did the day that we were sealed together in the Idaho Falls Temple, I love that he gave me the opportunity to be a mother and I love watching him be such an amazing father. Cody you are my best friend and I am so incredibly grateful to have you in my life, thank you for being the great man and father that you are.

Yay He did it!! Cody graduated from BYUI the end of July in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Chemistry. We are currently living in Fruitland while Cody finishes his internship and gets shadowing hours AND prepares to take the MCAT in January. Phew! We have a busy schedule!
Shortly after moving back home Cody, River and I went to the Boise greenbelt with Teryn and her two girls to hang out for the day.

 Our first family picture together...
River hit her two month mark and we took some cute pictures of her to compare from when  she was first born.
What a doll! I just love those cheeks!
What else happens when you hit the two month mark? Oh your baby has to get shots! :( Such a sad day!
 River loves her daddy

Our Little Lady....

River Rose Mortensen
6 lbs 14 oz
6-13-2012

We welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world on Wednesday June 13th at 12:40 pm. She was 2 weeks and 5 days early and we are so grateful that she came here healthy and strong and have enjoyed every sweet moment that we have had with her.
I guess you could say that my birth story began when I went in for my 36 week appointment and my doctor felt my belly to see if the head was down like it should be and he quickly realized that her head wasn't only down and low but in his words her head was "LOW low low" We even did an ultrasound to make sure that what he was feeling was in fact her head. Sure enough it was. I went on with my week doing everything that I had been doing before (working out walking the dog etc...) I started getting contractions like crazy and they stayed consistent throughout the week, even though they were happening every couple of minutes they never really started to get more intense so I just blew them off remembering what everyone had told me about braxton hicks contractions and just asumming that, that is what was happening. So as I go in for my 37 week appointment and tell the doctor that I was contracting he decided that he needed to check me instead of waiting for the normal 38 week appointment check, when he checked me I was dialated 3 centimeters and my cervix was 3/4ths the way ready, but again I just asummed that this was normal and that we progress slowly? So I leave the doctors office and go home and workout for a couple hours and take my dog on our normal 3 mile walk. I woke up the next morning and had some more intense contractions but decided to go ahead and do my workout and walk my dog thinking that maybe they would just go away. That afternoon Cody, Sterling and I went to the temple and did sealings and a session, afterwords my back was KILLING me!! I thought that it was from kneeling during the sealings that we did and had Cody rub my back when we got home and I went to bed early. I woke up that night for my normal middle of the night potty run (when your pregnant you have to pee every 2.5 seconds I swear.) This was just before 2 am I got up and walked out my bedroom door when all of the suddon fluid started running down my leg, my first thought was "what the bunny? Are you serious? I haven't peed my pants since I was a kid!" I was so embarrassed until I went to the bathroom and stood up again to wash my hands and more fluid started to run down my leg. It wasn't the Woosh of fluid that everyone had told me would happen when your water breaks so I was completely confused on what was going on with my body. I walked into our bedroom very calmly and woke Cody up saying "ummm... I think my water broke, but i'm not positive let me call my mom." So I start trying to get a hold of my mom and sister and sure enough they confirmed the fact that my water broke and I needed to get to the hospital asap. On our way up to the hospital I started having crazy strong contractions that were one after the other and making it hard for me to even breathe, we walked up to labor and delivery and got gowned down and the nurse came in to check me and saw that I was almost 5 centimeters and my cervix was 80 percent ready (I will say that the worst thing in the world is getting checked! Holy cow it hurts! OUCH!!) I ended up laboring on my own for about 4 hours and decided I wanted the epidural considering that my contractions were right on top of eachother and making it hard to breathe.
The epidural is AMAZING!! I was able to relax and just hang out and wait for my baby to get here. When it came time to push my doctor was downstairs finishing a surgery so it was just Cody me and my nurse as I started to push, Cody ended up looking at the monitor and realized that the baby's heart rate was above 200 and continuing to rise, he brought this point up to the nurse and she acted like it was completely normal so I continued to  push for another 5 minutes when the doctor walked in and took one look at the monitor and saw that her heart rate was 214 bpm and immediately says " Her heart rate is WAY to high guys we need to get her out NOW!" so he got ready and pulled out the vaccuum to help pull her out quick so I start pushing again and she would start to move forward and then move back to where she was, after some adjusting she started to lower down with the assistance of the vaccuum, and then as her head starts to come out we realize why she was having such a hard time coming out, she was sideways, my doctor looked at me and said "Kylee I'm sorry but I have to cut you so we can get her out." I of course say ok and he cuts me and pulls her out so she could quickly be moved to the NICU nurses to ensure that she was ok. Even though the whole process was a bit stressfull and painfull she ended up being ok and healthy other then not being able to stableize her temperature for the first 24 hours. I ended up pushing for just over 30 minutes and am so grateful that everything went well and that we got our baby girl here alright.

Proud daddy. Cody is such an awesome dad and he loves River so much! He told me that day that she was born that he would hold her and look at her and just want to cry, he loves her so much.
Uncle Stir Fry was SO excited to see baby River, he came and visited 5 minutes after they moved us to the mother baby unit haha...
These pictures were taken 2 days before I went into labor. 37 weeks!

My babies!! Ruger is so awesome with her and he loves her already!
My sister mom and I set up a little photo shoot in my apartment when she was 3 days old. :) Teryn did a great job with the pictures! If your friends with me on Facebook you can see all of the pictures that we took that day. :)

Claira and Abby love their new baby cousin! I cant wait for them to grow up together and be best buddies! :)

Easter and Florida trip 2012!!

Easter this year was spent back in Boise with our families, we had such a great time spending time with everyone and cant wait for Cody to get done with school so we can see our families more often!!

This is the Easter basket that I got for Cody. We have a new candy store here in Rexburg that sells candy from Australia so I was able to buy Cody some Tim Tam's, black liquorice and Ginger beer that he use to eat all the time on his mission. I also got him his favorite American candy such as Reece's snickers and jelly beans. (yes I did get ruger a basket too, I just didn't take pictures of it. haha...)
Cody helping Aysha find eggs on the Easter egg hunt. :)
Cute little Daylie! She had the hardest time keeping those eggs in her basket because she wanted to sprint all over the place. So finally she had her mom Chelise guard the basket while she ran all over finding eggs. lol...
After spending a little bit of time in Boise I flew with my parents to Florida to assist Teryn on her move back to Idaho. We had a really good time with each other and after 4 days in the car together I now appreciate what mom's go through with their kids. Oh boy....
One of our beach days!! It was so beautiful there and so warm! I miss it already, especially because I woke up to snow this morning in Rexburg! Kill me! I love this picture of Teryn she is so gorgeous!
 Sisters :)
The usual belly pic when your prego. I am now almost 31 weeks so close to 8 months along! It is so weird! I have just started to show and pop out the past few weeks so that has been a different experience for me, but it has been so fun at the same time. I am just glad that she is growing and healthy. Oh and for those of you who think that I am to obsessed with my body and that I haven't gained enough weight for my baby I will have you know that I have gained 17 pounds so far and am right on track. I'm 6'1" people I have a lot of body for my weight to go to so get over it!
 Claira found a sea shell!
I love this little girl! She is my favorite niece ever! :)

Teryn and her cute family before we went on our dolphin cruise. :)
Mimi loves her little Abigail Kate!

We went to the cutest zoo in the world! I loved it because it was so hands on! we were able to hand feed a lot of the animals, and go in to the bird cage and have them hang out all over you.
 Feeding the Giraffe's!
Abby singing itsy witsy spider. She has the cutest little dimples!
We celebrated Russ's bday while we were in Florida and took him to dinner at Rodezio Grill
Abby is so dang little!! Goodness!
We had one more beach day while in Florida and poor abby decided to wake up with a fever :( So Teryn and my dad took her to the doctor to get some medicine while Claira my mom and I went to the beach to play. Claira and I found a million little sea snails and she was so sad when she couldn't take them home with her. haha...

When we left Florida on our LONG drive back to Idaho we stopped in Texarkana for a couple of days to visit with some old friends. It was so nice to see everyone and catch up.
We ate at this super good catfish place that had a swamp in the front yard and peacocks running around all over the place! Claira LOVED it.
Claira and her new friend Savannah. It took them about 5 minutes to warm up to each other and then they were inseparable.
On our trip this little lady had an allergic reaction to her antibiotics and got hives all over her body so she screamed pretty much the whole third day of driving. We felt so bad for her but luckily teryn was able to give her some benadryl and get her a nice long sleep so that the last leg of our trip she was happy for the most part. This was in Pocatello where they dropped me off to be picked up by Cody. I love her little "hoo" hair.
And last but not least our sweet little Claira! Claira LOVED the mountains and talked about how pretty and neat they were from the first time she saw them in Colorado until we got home. She is going to go on a lot of hikes with uncle Cody and me this summer!
Ok well that is it! We had a great trip spent time with some wonderful people and my dad made it 4 whole days being completely out numbered 5 to 1 with us ladies! I hope everyone has a great weekend! Take care.
